Schoongezicht Gardens, Rustenberg Wines
While at Rustenberg Wines for the 2013 Rare Plant Fair, I took a stroll through the lovely Schoongezicht Gardens. The gardens feature a labarynth, koi pond, pergolas and lawns so plush and velvety that it seems a crime not to take your shoes off. The plants are typically English, roses and foxgloves, clemantis and day lillies – it’s a very long list. An hour spent exploring the flower beds and watching bees zooming busily about this season’s flowers is an hour well spent. In addition, the gardens are an easy amble from the wine tasting centre. Come a lazy summer day, and this is a good place to be.
